TERMS AND CONDITIONS

We invite artists, designers and authors working in the field of visual and performing arts to take part in the “Future” Art Project. The project brings together people who strive for peace and democratic values. The project is an effective platform for demonstrating anti-war art, political statements, manifestos and civil actions. Due to military censorship in Russia and Belarus, we strongly recommend that authors from these countries participate in the project anonymously or use pseudonyms (nicknames).

PROJECT GOALS

Goals of the Art Project “Future”:

1. Form public opinion in the Russian and international community condemning the war in Ukraine.

2. Invite creative people to join the anti-war and pro-democracy movement. To provide authors  working in the visual and performing arts with the opportunity to create and showcase art that has a positive impact on communities at home and abroad.

3. Demand that the Russian government stop the war in Ukraine, stop political repression, stop promoting violence and hatred towards Ukrainians and other peoples.

PROJECT EVENTS

As part of the project, we organize On-Line and Off-Line events, including art actions, exhibitions, performances, graffiti, digital art, computer installations, printing and distribution of banners, posters and leaflets, and other events.

As part of the project, the art works of the authors (participants) will be posted on the project website and in the Anti-War Album. The project team and partners will also print and distribute posters and leaflets with anti-war art in different regions of Russia and some temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine. People can see anti-war art on the facades and entrances of buildings, in shops, at fairs, in parks, alleys, cafes, restaurants, public transport stops and other public places. The art works of the authors (participants) can become the basis for graffiti, computer installations, performances, exhibitions, and other anti-war actions. We have successful experience of similar work with the artist Rudy Krymsky. We are currently preparing a series of works by artists from different countries to participate in this project.

THEMES OF ART WORKs

The Future Art Project supports anti-war and pro-democratic art initiatives of individual authors and groups working in the field of visual and performing arts. We provide the necessary conditions and resources for authors to create art works, art actions, performances, publications, and other works. We also provide authors with the opportunity to publicly demonstrate their art works at online and offline project events.

The Future Project team organizes special programs for authors working in the field of visual and performing arts. As part of the program, authors (participants) are invited to create art work on the following topics:

1. WAR IN UKRAINE. Authors are invited to reflect the theme of the war in Ukraine in their art works. Authors can use materials available in the media: Symbols of courage and heroism of Ukrainians; Armed Forces of Ukraine; Consequences of Russian military aggression; Peace Plan; History and future prospects of Ukraine, etc.

2. ALLIES OF UKRAINE. Authors are invited to reflect in their art works the efforts of allies supporting Ukraine: the USA, Great Britain, Canada, countries of the European Union, Asian countries, and other countries.

3. RUSSIA AND MILITARY AGGRESSION. Authors are invited to reflect in their art works the theme of war crimes by Russian troops in Ukraine; dictatorial regime in Russia; politics of terror; crime; corruption; genocide of peoples; repression and assassination of political leaders; etc.

HOW WE ARE WORKING

Authors (participants) send us a photograph of their artistic work with explanatory texts. The content of the texts is at the discretion of the authors. The project team prints art work on posters and leaflets with anti-war texts. Then the project team and partners distribute posters and leaflets throughout different regions of Russia. Sometimes project team members have the opportunity to create graffiti, computer installations, performances, exhibitions, and other anti-war actions.

We ask authors sending photographs of works of art to pay attention to the following:

To make leaflets, we will need a photograph with a resolution of at least 2 MB;

To make posters and banners, we will need a photograph with a resolution of at least 5 MB;

Photo format: JPEG, TIFF.

Art works will be posted on the Internet resources of the Art Project “Future”. As part of the project, it is planned to publish an Album with photographs of protest sites where art works were shown. The albums will be sent to the authors with letters of gratitude from the organizers and partners of the project. Some of our partners provide awards for participants in the “Future” art project.

WHY WE ARE DOING THIS ART PROJECT

(Expected results)

1. SUPPORT OF UKRAINE. The “Future” project team, together with authors from different countries, expresses solidarity with Ukrainians in their fight against Russian aggression. Through the work of independent artists, we would like to demonstrate that the international community supports Ukraine and condemns the war crimes of Russian troops. We expect that we will be able to influence the formation of public opinion in the countries where the project events will be organized.

2. RESISTANCE TO WAR PROPAGANDA AND THE “RUSSIAN WORLD” IDEOLOGY. The official Russian media, Putin fanatics from among cultural figures organize a huge number of events promoting the war and the imperial ideology of the “Russian World”. Continuing protests on the streets of Russian cities, the team of the Art Project “Future” helps people resist war propaganda. We give people hope and faith that they can live without the imperial ideology of the “Russian World”, without violence and hatred towards Ukrainians and other peoples.

3. RESISTANCE TO THE DICTATORIAL REGIME IN RUSSIA. The art project “Future” calls for resistance to Putin’s dictatorial regime. The project team uses independent art in the fight for human rights, freedom of speech and other democratic achievements. The project team supports and helps people who are persecuted for their political views. We hope to help those people who still need support and protection.

4. SUPPORTING INDEPENDENT ART. The “Future” art project gives independent authors the opportunity to show art works that reflect social and political processes in their country and the world. Today, Russian cultural centres, theatres, concert and exhibition halls, museums and galleries refuse to show anti-war and pro-democracy art projects. We believe that, despite the denial of such art today, the work of independent authors will be recognized by future generations. Anti-war art has an important mission - it makes people think about what is happening to them, their country and the world.

RESOURCES AND EXPERIENCE OF THE PROJECT TEAM

Our team has experience in organizing art projects that bring together many people. Project team members worked in leading positions in companies and cultural institutions (museums, galleries, associations, artists' unions, other companies and non-profit organizations).

To organize the program of events, the project team plans to use its own resources, as well as the resources of our partners. We  cooperate with companies and organizations that provide us with financial, technical, logistics and other types of support.

We are looking for new partners for our project. You can send us any of your ideas or proposals for cooperation. We will be glad to cooperate with you.
