Since the beginning of the war, many war crimes committed by Russian troops have been recorded. An international commission under the auspices of the UN Human Rights Council listed the following war crimes: attacks on civilians and energy infrastructure, intentional killings, unlawful imprisonment, torture, rape and other types of violence. War crimes and crimes against humanity and humanity are not subject to a statute of limitations. Currently, more than 70,000 criminal cases have been opened. Based on the results of investigations, the International Criminal Court issued an arrest warrant for Vladimir Putin for war crimes - the illegal deportation and sending of children from Ukraine to Russia.

According to eyewitnesses, Russian soldiers committed extrajudicial executions, torture, sexual violence, punitive measures and other forms of ill-treatment of civilians in the occupied territories. In the territories occupied by Russian troops, numerous violent kidnappings and illegal arrests of civilians took place. Mothers were raped and killed in front of their children. Russian soldiers tortured and then shot Ukrainian citizens in the head. After the liberation of these territories, mass graves of violently murdered Ukrainian citizens were discovered. Many civilians were killed by grenades thrown into their apartments, others were killed by tanks, bombs or rockets.
